The Audience tab is the list, not a summary of it. Four counts sit across the top: subscribed, growth this week, confirming, and unsubscribed. Under them is every address, with its status, the date it arrived, and how many links that person has clicked. Everyone is grouped by the block they joined through, you can add your own groups on top, and a post can go to one group instead of everyone.

Export to CSV takes the whole list rather than the page you are looking at. It is the same file whether you are backing up or leaving, which is rather the point. A welcome email can go out once, the moment somebody confirms, so the first thing they hear is yours.

Bringing a list in from somewhere else is deliberately slower. You confirm the people on it asked to hear from you, then every address gets one email asking them to confirm, and nobody joins until they do. Import opens on Pro once your sending has a clean record behind it, which is what keeps a bought list from becoming everyone else’s problem.

three steps

Set it up.

  1. 01Collect the addressesAn email capture block on your page writes every signup to the list.
  2. 02Read the listThe Audience tab shows each address, its status, when it arrived, and its clicks.
  3. 03Export or importExport to CSV at any time. An imported CSV asks every address to confirm first.

questions

Straight answers.

Can I export everything?
Yes. Export to CSV writes the whole list, with the email, the date it arrived, and the clicks, not just what is on screen.
What happens to a CSV I import?
Every address on it is emailed and asked to confirm, and only the people who do are added. Up to 5,000 rows and 2 MB at a time.
Why is import gated?
Because a list nobody agreed to be on ruins the sending reputation of everybody else. It opens on Pro once you have a record of clean sends behind you.
