Invites

urls.bio is invite-only, and every account carries invites of its own. Yours are in the sidebar of the dashboard, under your name, in the card that counts them.

How many you get

Ten. The count is the same on Free and on Pro, and it does not reset. The card shows what is left, in a size hard to miss, with the line "urls.bio is invite-only. Bring your people in." under it. Both of its buttons stop working once you hit zero, at which point the card reads "No invites left".

Accounts created before March 2025 were given five, and the change to ten only applied to accounts made after it. If your card says five, that is why.

An invite is spent when someone actually redeems your link, not when you share it. Sending the same link to ten people does not use ten invites; ten people joining does.

Your invite link

Every account has one permanent invite link built from your handle and a ten character hash:

The hash is ten random base62 characters, generated on the server with cryptographic randomness and checked on the server. It never reaches the person you send it to as anything but part of the URL, and it is the same link every time, for every person, until all ten invites are gone.

Ten characters is short enough to survive being pasted into a message without wrapping, which matters: the most common invite failure is a link truncated at the question mark, which arrives as "This invite link is incomplete or has been changed."

Sharing it

Open Invite a friend from the sidebar card, or from the Cmd+K palette anywhere in the dashboard. The sheet repeats the count in its subtitle and gives you three ways out.

• A QR code. Point a phone at it. Useful in a green room, at a table, on a slide.
• Copy link. Puts the URL on your clipboard, confirms it with a tick, and drops a "Invite link copied" message.
• Share. Opens your device's own share sheet, titled "Join me on urls.bio", so the link goes straight into a message, a note, or a DM. On a browser with no share sheet this copies instead.

The full link is printed under the QR code in mono, so you can read it out or check it before sending.

There is also a small copy button on the sidebar card itself when you just want the link and nothing else. If the card is still working out your link you get "Your invite link isn't ready yet. Try again in a moment." Wait a beat and try again.

Putting the invite on your own page

Your invite link is a URL like any other, so you can add it as a Link block and let anyone reading your page take a seat. See blocks and links. Copy it fresh from the sheet when you do, rather than typing it from memory: the hash is the part that has to be exact.

Who joined

The invite sheet lists the people who came in through your link, newest first, up to twelve of them, under a heading that counts them: "3 of your invites joined". Each row is their avatar, their name, and their handle, and the handle opens their page in a new tab.

The list only appears once someone has joined. If it is not there, nobody has redeemed your link yet.

What the other person sees

They land on a page with your name on it: "You've been invited by" and then you. They enter their own email address, get a "seat held" confirmation, and urls.bio emails them a sign-in link. From there they go through getting started like anyone else, and their account is permanently marked as invited by you, which is what the joined list is reading.

They never see your hash as something to type, and they never need an account to open the page.

Two things they might hit instead:

• If the link is incomplete, they are told so and asked to get the full one from you.
• If you are out of invites, they are told you have handed out every invite you have, and pointed at the waitlist.

Invite claims are rate limited to five an hour from one place, so a burst of attempts from a single network will be slowed down.

Common questions

Can I get more invites? Not from the dashboard. Ten is the allowance.

Does a Pro subscription come with more? No. The count is the same on both plans.

Why does the joined list stop at twelve? It is a receipt rather than a report. Twelve is what it shows, newest first.

Someone opened my link and nothing happened. They need to enter their email on that page and follow the link they are sent. If they were already signed in to urls.bio, the invite page sends them to their own dashboard instead. See troubleshooting.
