Getting started

urls.bio is invite-only. There is no open signup page, so you get in one of two ways: someone already on urls.bio sends you their invite link, or you join the waitlist and wait for a spot.

This page takes you from an invite in your inbox to a live page at urls.bio/yourname. It is about ten minutes of work, and most of it can be skipped and done later.

Getting an invite

If a member sends you a link, it looks like this:

Open it and you land on a page with their name on it: "You've been invited by", and then them. Enter your own email address and press Claim your page. The invite email arrives a moment later. There is no code to type anywhere: the link is the invite, and you never need an account to open that page.

Two things can stop the page short:

• "This invite link is incomplete or has been changed." The hash is missing or does not match the handle. Nearly always this means the URL was truncated on the way to you, usually by something that cut it at the question mark. Ask for the full link again, or ask the sender to use the Share button rather than pasting the link into a caption.
• "They have handed out every invite they have." Every account gets ten, and the tenth redemption exhausts them. Ask someone else, or take the waitlist route below.

Once you submit your email you get a confirmation reading "seat held", and the invite stays yours until you use it.

If you do not know anyone on urls.bio yet, join the waitlist from the home page. You can reserve the handle you want at the same time, and that handle is held for you: the database refuses to hand it to anyone else while your reservation stands, with the message "This handle is reserved by someone on the waitlist". Invites go out from the waitlist as spots open.

Claiming your handle

Your invite email carries a sign-in link. Follow it and onboarding starts. The first four steps set up the account, one question per screen, and none of them can be skipped.

1. Start with your name. What sits at the top of your page, above everything else. Two characters or more.
2. Claim your handle. This is your page address, urls.bio/yourname. Lowercase letters, numbers, and underscores, three characters or more. urls.bio checks whether it is free while you type, so you find out before you commit. If it is gone you get "@yourname is taken. Try another."
3. Say what you do. One or two lines under your name, up to 200 characters. Optional, and easy to add later.
4. Set a password. Eight characters or more, typed twice, plus the terms checkbox. Your account was created by an invite rather than a signup form, so this is the point where it gets a password. You sign in from then on with this and your email.

Handles are first come, first served. You can change yours later in Settings, but the old address stops working the moment you do, so it is worth getting right now. See sharing.

Setting up the page

Onboarding then walks you through the page itself. Every one of these four steps is skippable, and everything in them is in the Studio afterwards:

1. Add a photo. Your avatar, at the top of the page.
2. Link your socials. The platforms you post on. They show as an icon row under your name.
3. Pick your colors. A color scheme, plus button shape (rounded or square) and button fill (solid or outline).
4. Add your first links. A title and a URL each. You can add more from the dashboard.

Then you land in the dashboard, and your page is live at urls.bio/yourname.

Finding your way around

Five things sit in the left sidebar:

• My Page is the Studio: your blocks, a live preview, and the design controls. See blocks and links.
• Audience is your subscriber list, with the CSV export. See email capture.
• Analytics is views, clicks, and subscribers over time. See analytics.
• Integrations connects new subscribers to Klaviyo, Mailchimp, beehiiv, or a webhook, and holds your Google Analytics and Meta Pixel IDs. See integrations.
• Settings holds your name, handle, bio, page title, the email gate, your password, and the delete-account button.

Under them is the setup checklist, then your invite card, then your name and plan. Two buttons sit at the top right of the My Page tab: Preview shows your page full screen the way a visitor sees it, and the one with your handle on it opens the live page in a new tab. Cmd+K opens a command palette from anywhere in the dashboard.

The setup checklist

The card reading "Set up your page" tracks three things:

1. Add your first link. Ticks as soon as you have one block of any kind.
2. Style it in the Design panel. Ticks when you have moved off the default color scheme, picked a font, or changed the background away from solid.
3. Share your page. This one is a button. Clicking it copies urls.bio/yourname to your clipboard and ticks the row.

The card retires itself once all three are done. The X in its corner dismisses it for good. Both the tick on Share your page and the dismissal are stored in your browser, so they come back if you sign in on a different device.

What to do first

Three things pay off early:

• Add the links you already send people to, in the order you would say them out loud. The per-link click table in Analytics tells you afterwards whether the order was right. See blocks and links.
• Add an email capture block. A follower on a platform is rented; an email address is yours. See email capture.
• Put the link in your bios. One link everywhere you post is the whole point, and it is also what makes analytics worth reading. See sharing.

Common questions

Can I see a finished page before I start? urls.bio/demo is a live account with links, an embed, and the email gate turned on.

Do I have to pay for anything? No. Free has no time limit and no card. See plans and billing.

I never set a password because I signed in through the email link. Onboarding sets one on step four. If you skipped past that or want a new one, Settings has a password field near the bottom.
